What's on the poster

  • When it rains: Allahumma sayyiban nafi'an, "O Allah, make it good rain that helps us!" (Al-Bukhari 1032 · Hisn al-Muslim 172)
  • After the rain: Mutirna bi-fadlillahi wa rahmatih, with its meaning (Al-Bukhari 846 · Hisn al-Muslim 173)
  • 4 picture steps: look, rain!; say the du'a like the Prophet (peace be upon him); ask Allah; splish, splash and say Alhamdulillah
  • A banner: rain helps seeds, flowers and animals
  • A QR code to watch and sing "Pitter-Patter"
Where the words come from

Sources

Qur'an verses are copied letter for letter from tanzil.net or quran.com, and du'as and hadith from sunnah.com. The reference is printed on the poster, with a transliteration and a simple meaning. Where schools of thought differ on small details, follow your teacher.

How to use it

For grown-ups

  • Hang it next to a window, so when the rain starts your child can run over and say the du'a.
  • The poster says rain is a good time to make du'a: ask your child what they would like to ask Allah for while it pours.
  • After the rain, go puddle-jumping and look for what the rain helped: wet leaves, worms, maybe a rainbow.
  • Sing "Pitter-Patter" from the QR code on a rainy day indoors.
  • Print at 100% ("actual size") on thick paper, or laminate it for a busy wall. For a big classroom or masjid poster, use the 18 × 24 in PDF at a print shop.
