What's on the poster

  • 3 speech-bubble steps: I sneeze and say Alhamdulillah; my friend says Yarhamuk-Allah; I say back Yahdikumullahu wa yuslihu balakum (Al-Bukhari 6224 · Hisn al-Muslim 188)
  • Arabic, transliteration and a simple meaning for each line
  • Sneeze? Cover up with your hand or a tissue, and keep it quiet (Abu Dawud 5029)
  • Yawn? Put your hand over your mouth (Muslim 2995 · Al-Bukhari 6226)
  • A banner: Allah loves sneezing, so we always say Alhamdulillah! (Al-Bukhari 6226)
  • A QR code to watch and sing "Big Yawn, Little Hand"
Where the words come from

Sources

Qur'an verses are copied letter for letter from tanzil.net or quran.com, and du'as and hadith from sunnah.com. The reference is printed on the poster, with a transliteration and a simple meaning. Where schools of thought differ on small details, follow your teacher.

How to use it

For grown-ups

  • Hang it next to the tissue box, at home or in the classroom, where the sneezes happen.
  • Role-play in pairs: one child pretends to sneeze, the other answers, then swap.
  • Practise the reply a few words at a time; it is the longest of the three lines.
  • Use the yawn card at bedtime: a big yawn means a little hand over the mouth.
  • Print at 100% ("actual size") on thick paper, or laminate it for a busy wall. For a big classroom or masjid poster, use the 18 × 24 in PDF at a print shop.
