Where the words come from

Sources

Qur'an verses are copied letter for letter from tanzil.net or quran.com, and du'as and hadith from sunnah.com. The reference is printed on the poster, with a transliteration and a simple meaning. Where schools of thought differ on small details, follow your teacher.

How to use it

For grown-ups

  • Make the mouth shapes together in a mirror: open wide for fatha, smile for kasra, round lips for damma.
  • Read the “Let's read!” strip as a one-minute warm-up before Qaida or Qur'an practice.
  • Write the same marks on other letters, such as Jeem or Seen, and read them together.
  • Listen for the doubled b in rabbi when you recite Al-Fatiha together.
  • Print at 100% ("actual size") on thick paper, or laminate it for a busy wall. For a big classroom or masjid poster, use the 18 × 24 in PDF at a print shop.
