What's on the poster

  • Qur'an 78:7 in Arabic, with transliteration and meaning: “And [We made] the mountains as pegs.”
  • 4 “Did you know?” facts: peaks above the clouds, snowy tops that melt into rivers, mountains like tent pegs (Qur'an 16:15), and goats and eagles that live up high
  • Going up a hill we say Allahu Akbar, and coming down we say SubhanAllah (Al-Bukhari 2993), in Arabic and English
  • Pictures of the NoorHop friends under a giant snowy mountain
  • A QR code to watch and sing “Mountains”
Where the words come from

Sources

Qur'an verses are copied letter for letter from tanzil.net or quran.com, and du'as and hadith from sunnah.com. The reference is printed on the poster, with a transliteration and a simple meaning. Where schools of thought differ on small details, follow your teacher.

How to use it

For grown-ups

  • On your next walk up a hill, or even a playground slide, say Allahu Akbar going up and SubhanAllah coming down.
  • Put up a small tent or a sheet held with pegs, and show how the pegs keep it steady.
  • Make a paper mountain with cotton-wool clouds and snow, and let your child add a goat and an eagle.
  • Look at photos of famous mountains together and see who can find one poking above the clouds.
  • Print at 100% ("actual size") on thick paper, or laminate it for a busy wall. For a big classroom or masjid poster, use the 18 × 24 in PDF at a print shop.
