What's on the poster

  • Part of Qur'an 6:95 in Arabic, with transliteration and meaning: “Allah splits open seeds and date pits.”
  • From a tiny seed to a big tree in 4 picture steps: a tiny seed, it splits, up it pops, and a big tree with shade, fruit and a home for birds
  • “When I eat fruit or rest in the shade, I say: Alhamdulillah!”, from words the Prophet (peace be upon him) loved (Sahih Muslim 2695)
  • “Allah made these too!” mini cards on little ants and on eyes and ears
  • A QR code to watch and sing “Tiny Seed”
Where the words come from

Sources

Qur'an verses are copied letter for letter from tanzil.net or quran.com, and du'as and hadith from sunnah.com. The reference is printed on the poster, with a transliteration and a simple meaning. Where schools of thought differ on small details, follow your teacher.

How to use it

For grown-ups

  • Plant a bean or a date pit in a clear cup with damp kitchen roll, so your child can watch the root grow down and the shoot pop up.
  • Keep a seed diary: draw the seed every few days and match each drawing to a step on the poster.
  • Say Alhamdulillah together at snack time, especially over a piece of fruit.
  • Go on a seed hunt in the fruit bowl: apple pips, lemon seeds and date stones.
  • Print at 100% ("actual size") on thick paper, or laminate it for a busy wall. For a big classroom or masjid poster, use the 18 × 24 in PDF at a print shop.
