  • Day and night pictures of the NoorHop friends pointing up at the sun and the moon
  • 4 “Did you know?” facts: the sun is a giant star, about a million Earths could fit inside it, the moon shines with light from the sun, and the moon changes shape every month
  • “When I see the sun or the moon, I say: SubhanAllah!”, from words the Prophet (peace be upon him) loved (Sahih Muslim 2695)
  • A QR code to watch and sing “Sun and Moon”
Where the words come from

Sources

Qur'an verses are copied letter for letter from tanzil.net or quran.com, and du'as and hadith from sunnah.com. The reference is printed on the poster, with a transliteration and a simple meaning. Where schools of thought differ on small details, follow your teacher.

How to use it

For grown-ups

  • Check the moon from the window each night for a month and match its shape to the moon shapes card.
  • Shine a torch on a ball in a dark room to show how the moon shines with light from the sun.
  • Remind children never to look straight at the sun; enjoy its light and warmth instead.
  • Whenever you spot the moon together, say SubhanAllah out loud.
  • Print at 100% ("actual size") on thick paper, or laminate it for a busy wall. For a big classroom or masjid poster, use the 18 × 24 in PDF at a print shop.
