At home

Make them everyday words

  • Say them yourself, out loud, at the real moment — children learn these words by hearing them, not by drills.
  • Pick one word a week and notice together every time it fits.
  • Mix them up on purpose (“Oops, did I say InshaAllah about yesterday?”) and let your child correct you.

Questions parents ask

What's the difference between these words and du'as?

These are short expressions Muslims use all day long — to start, to thank, to praise, to greet. Du'as are what we say at particular moments, like before sleeping or leaving home.

Which words should a toddler learn first?

“Bismillah”, “Alhamdulillah” and “Assalamu alaikum” — children hear them every day, so they pick them up quickly.

MashaAllah, InshaAllah, SubhanAllah — how do I help my child tell them apart?

MashaAllah is for lovely things that happened, InshaAllah is for plans later, SubhanAllah is for “wow” moments in Allah's creation. The game “What do we say?” practises exactly this.
