  • 9 picture cards: Assalamu 'alaykum, Bismillah, Alhamdulillah, JazakAllahu khayran, InshaAllah, MashaAllah, SubhanAllah, Allahu Akbar and Astaghfirullah
  • When to say each one, such as “When I make a plan”, “When I see something nice” or “When I make a mistake”
  • Each phrase in Arabic, with transliteration, a simple meaning and an example line, plus the salaam reply “Wa 'alaykumus-salam”
  • A source on every card, from Abu Dawud 5195 and Hisn al-Muslim to Qur'an 18:23–24 and 18:39
  • A “What do I say?” game for a grown-up and child, and a QR code to sing “InshaAllah Tomorrow”
Where the words come from

Sources

Qur'an verses are copied letter for letter from tanzil.net or quran.com, and du'as and hadith from sunnah.com. The reference is printed on the poster, with a transliteration and a simple meaning. Where schools of thought differ on small details, follow your teacher.

How to use it

For grown-ups

  • Hang it near the front door or the dining table, where many of these moments happen every day.
  • Play the “What do I say?” game: act out meeting a friend, starting a meal or seeing a tall mountain, and let your child call out the right phrase.
  • Cover the words with a sticky note and see if your child can guess the phrase from the picture alone.
  • Praise them warmly when they use a phrase on their own, like a MashaAllah for a friend's drawing or an InshaAllah for tomorrow's plans.
  • Print at 100% ("actual size") on thick paper, or laminate it for a busy wall. For a big classroom or masjid poster, use the 18 × 24 in PDF at a print shop.
