Wudu practice chart for kids
Wudu is a lovely first step towards salah because it's hands-on and splashy. A practice chart celebrates each try — with a grown-up at first, then on their own — while they learn the order and to use water gently.

At the end of the week
Sit together and ask: “What did you try hardest at?” Praise the effort, not a score. Ideas:
- “I saw how hard you tried. That made me so happy.”
- “You remembered all by yourself!”
- “We did it together — you're a great helper.”
- “Even when it was tricky, you kept trying. MashaAllah!”

What to put on a wudu chart, by age
Splash along with you — hands, mouth, face — and don't worry about the order yet.
Say Bismillah, follow a picture guide on the wall and turn the tap down low.
Remember the order without the pictures and make wudu on their own before salah.
Using it gently
- Practise at the sink with a step stool and a small cup of water.
- Play Wudu Steps together to learn the order, then try it for real.
- Make “use water gently” part of the fun: who can do wudu with the tap at a trickle?
- Families and madhhabs differ on details — follow your teacher's method.
Questions parents ask
At what age can a child do wudu?
Toddlers can copy you for fun. Many 5–6 year olds can follow a picture guide with help, and by 7–8 most children can do it on their own with an occasional reminder.
How do I teach the steps of wudu?
One step at a time, in the same order every day, with pictures at the sink. Add a new step only when the earlier ones feel easy.
