Tips for the letter

Saying and writing Ba

How to say it

Press your lips together, then pop them open: b, as in 'ball'.

Don't mix it up

ب, ت and ث share one boat shape — count the dots! ب has one dot below, ت two on top, ث three on top. At the start of a word ن and ي use the same shape too.

Hear Ba and its picture words on the letter Ba page.

How to use it

For grown-ups

  • Every row starts on the right. A small sticker on the right-hand margin is a great reminder.
  • Say the sound each time: “Ba… b”.
  • Trace the model letter with a finger first, following the arrows, then use a pencil.
  • Use a thick crayon or triangular pencil for little hands — and stop while it's still fun.
  • Print at 100% ("actual size"). Ink-saver line art is the default, so colouring in is part of the fun.
