What's on each page

  • A big model خ with a green start dot and arrows showing which way to write

  • The picture word خَرُوف (kharoof, sheep) and a box to draw it
Tips for the letter

Saying and writing Khaa

How to say it

Make a soft, scratchy sound at the top of your throat, just behind your tongue, like the 'ch' in Scottish 'loch': kh.

Don't mix it up

Same shape as ج and ح — خ has one dot on top.

Hear Khaa and its picture words on the letter Khaa page.

How to use it

For grown-ups

  • Every row starts on the right. A small sticker on the right-hand margin is a great reminder.
  • Say the sound each time: “Khaa… kh — the ch in Scottish 'loch'”.
  • Trace the model letter with a finger first, following the arrows, then use a pencil.
  • Use a thick crayon or triangular pencil for little hands — and stop while it's still fun.
  • Print at 100% ("actual size"). Ink-saver line art is the default, so colouring in is part of the fun.
