Tips for the letter

Saying and writing Jeem

How to say it

Lift the middle of your tongue to the roof of your mouth and say j, as in 'jam'.

Don't mix it up

ج, ح and خ share one shape: ج has a dot inside, ح has none, خ has one on top.

Hear Jeem and its picture words on the letter Jeem page.

How to use it

For grown-ups

  • Every row starts on the right. A small sticker on the right-hand margin is a great reminder.
  • Say the sound each time: “Jeem… j”.
  • Trace the model letter with a finger first, following the arrows, then use a pencil.
  • Use a thick crayon or triangular pencil for little hands — and stop while it's still fun.
  • Print at 100% ("actual size"). Ink-saver line art is the default, so colouring in is part of the fun.
