Tips for the letter

Saying and writing Meem

How to say it

Close your lips and hum: mmm, as in 'moon'.

Don't mix it up

Meem has a shape of its own: a little round head with a tail.

Hear Meem and its picture words on the letter Meem page.

How to use it

For grown-ups

  • Every row starts on the right. A small sticker on the right-hand margin is a great reminder.
  • Say the sound each time: “Meem… m”.
  • Trace the model letter with a finger first, following the arrows, then use a pencil.
  • Use a thick crayon or triangular pencil for little hands — and stop while it's still fun.
  • Print at 100% ("actual size"). Ink-saver line art is the default, so colouring in is part of the fun.
