Tips for the letter

Saying and writing Fa

How to say it

Rest your top teeth on your bottom lip and blow: f, as in 'fish'.

Don't mix it up

ف has one dot; ق has two dots and a deeper, rounder tail.

Hear Fa and its picture words on the letter Fa page.

How to use it

For grown-ups

  • Every row starts on the right. A small sticker on the right-hand margin is a great reminder.
  • Say the sound each time: “Fa… f”.
  • Trace the model letter with a finger first, following the arrows, then use a pencil.
  • Use a thick crayon or triangular pencil for little hands — and stop while it's still fun.
  • Print at 100% ("actual size"). Ink-saver line art is the default, so colouring in is part of the fun.
