Arabic Letter Qaaf (ق) Tracing Worksheet

Practise writing Qaaf (ق) — a deep k from the back of the throat. Your child traces from the right-hand side: big outlined letters first, then dotted ones, then on their own, and finishes by drawing a moon (qamar).

Tips for the letter

Saying and writing Qaaf

How to say it

Say k, but much further back: the very back of your tongue touches the soft back of the roof of your mouth. Deep and strong: q. ك (Kaaf) is the lighter one.

Don't mix it up

Same family as ف — ق has two dots and a rounder tail that dips below the line.

Hear Qaaf and its picture words on the letter Qaaf page.

How to use it

For grown-ups

  • Every row starts on the right. A small sticker on the right-hand margin is a great reminder.
  • Say the sound each time: “Qaaf… a deep k from the back of the throat”.
  • Trace the model letter with a finger first, following the arrows, then use a pencil.
  • Use a thick crayon or triangular pencil for little hands — and stop while it's still fun.
  • Print at 100% ("actual size"). Ink-saver line art is the default, so colouring in is part of the fun.
