Today's mini-lesson
Eid al-Fitr begins when the new moon of Shawwal is seen at the end of Ramadan.
It can come after 29 or 30 days of fasting, so tonight many families look for the moon or wait for the announcement.
Getting ready together — tidying, decorating and laying out clothes — makes the waiting exciting.
