Ramadan Day 2: Bismillah at Suhoor
Suhoor is the meal eaten before dawn by people who are fasting, and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that there is blessing in it. Below you'll find a 5-minute activity for little ones (3–5) and big kids (6–8), today's word with audio, and a day card to print.

Today's mini-lesson
Suhoor is the meal eaten before dawn by people who are fasting, and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that there is blessing in it.
We start every meal — suhoor too — by saying “Bismillah”, in the name of Allah.
Little ones don't need to wake up early: they can say Bismillah at breakfast and remember the grown-ups who ate before sunrise.
Sources: Sahih al-Bukhari 1923
A Bismillah placemat
Draw round your child's hand on a sheet of paper. You write “Bismillah” in the middle and they decorate the rest. Use it at every meal this month as a reminder.
Suhoor menu chef
Plan a suhoor together for the grown-ups (or for a practice day): one food for slow energy like oats, eggs or bread, one fruit and a glass of water. Draw it as a menu card for the fridge.
Bismillah
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ
Bismillah
“In the name of Allah”
We say it before eating, drinking and starting good things.
