Today's mini-lesson
Fasting means not eating or drinking from dawn until sunset, to please Allah.
Grown-ups fast in Ramadan, while children can practise in little ways when they're ready — fasting isn't required until a child reaches puberty.
Fasting helps us feel thankful for our food and remember people who are hungry.

Sun and moon sort
Draw a big sun and a big moon on two sheets. Talk about what fasting grown-ups do while the sun is up, and what happens when it sets — iftar! Your child moves pictures of food onto the moon side.
My practice plan
If your child is keen, choose a tiny practice together — like waiting for a snack until lunchtime — and write it on a card. Afterwards, talk about how it felt. Stopping early is still a great try.
